Faith Development At Marian College
As a Catholic school, Marian College's main reason for existence is to provide an environment in which students experience opportunities for the development and expression of their faith.
Marian College offers both formal and informal ways for practising faith. It is the responses made by the members of the school community in all their experiences, interactions, relationships and responses that make up the formal and informal day to day life of the school that bear witness to particular values and helps to make these part of the accepted culture.
The hoped outcome for Religious Education at Marian College is:
To develop religiously literate young people who understand and appreciate religious values, who are positive about life, who have a sense of their own worth and of their contribution to the world and who are able to apply the religious values they have accquired in the context in which they live and work.
Our faith development program, then, is for all students - regardless of their particular religious backgrounds.

Pastoral Care
The Pastoral Care Policy of Marian College will have as its basis the Brigidine Core Values. We are committed to ensuring Pastoral Care permeates the total climate of relationships within the College Community, whilst focussing on the individual to encourage the growth of dignity and self worth.
- Pastoral Care extends to all in the Marian College community which comprises of students, family and staff
- Policy formulation in the school takes into account the need for Pastoral Care
- Our students are in a state of emotional and physical development and each needs to be treated as an individual
- Mistakes are an opportunity for growth and development
- Pastoral Care is non punitive
- We encourage, nurture, foster and empower
- We respect and recognise all differences
Welfare
An important aspect of the Brigidine ethos is to welcome and care for the students we educate. The wellbeing of all members of our school community matters greatly to us. Our approach to welfare issues is very much a team effort.
Each student is in the care of their dedicated Home Room teacher, who generally sees them at the start and end of each school day, as well as teaching them for at least one subject in most instances. Indeed all classroom teachers and Year Level Coordinators play an important role in monitoring the wellbeing of each student and most students develop very positive bonds with many of their day-to-day teachers.
As Welfare Coordinator, I'm keen to ensure that we do the best job we can for each student in our care. We are also fortunate to be able to seek assistance from the CEO with numerous specialist Support Officers and Grampians Health, who can provide professional, confidential counselling where it may be appropriate. Please don't hesitate to contact the college if you have any questions or concerns.
We are here to help and we care!
